Comprehensive Vision Assessment

During a comprehensive eye exam, our optometrists conduct a series of tests and assessments to gauge the health of your eyes and the accuracy of your vision. These evaluations range from fundamental tasks like reading an eye chart to sophisticated techniques such as digital retinal imaging for a detailed analysis of retinal health.

Eye care doctors strongly recommend undergoing a comprehensive eye exam annually. This routine check-up helps identify potential eye conditions and ensures proactive treatment of any shifts in your vision.

Customized Eye Care for Every Age

Tailored eye care based on age is pivotal in your eye health needs. We customize our approach to eye care to each individual's unique requirements. Whether you're a child, a working adult, or a senior, our expert team will guide you on the frequency of eye exams, ensuring optimal vision throughout your life.

Starting from early childhood, regular eye exams help detect and treat vision issues that could impact learning and development. For adults, these exams are crucial in monitoring changes in vision and catching early signs of eye strain, glaucoma, or cataracts. Seniors, particularly, benefit from more frequent screenings to manage age-related eye diseases. Embracing a proactive stance on eye exams at all stages of life not only enhances your vision quality but also contributes significantly to your overall health and quality of life.

Early Eye Exams for Children

Children's vision is a top priority at Piedmont Vision. Approximately 5% to 10% of preschoolers and 25% of school-aged children experience vision issues. Early detection is crucial, so we recommend comprehensive eye exams at six months, age three, and before starting school. We offer tailored, more frequent assessments if any risk factors are present.

Children with existing vision problems or risk factors should have their eyes examined more frequently. Common risk factors for vision problems include:

  • Premature birth
  • Developmental delays
  • Turned or crossed eyes
  • Family history of eye disease
  • History of eye injury
  • Other physical illness or disease
